Hi. As i am starting to servicing vintage radios i was thinking to buying capacitors in bulk sets so i can save a lot of time waiting for individual caps. Does anyone do that and what better brand can you reccomend? Because the ones i found are dirt cheap (15 dollars for 200 pieces of smaller ones). I dont want to risk with bad queality ones. |

The smaller ones, with low allowable voltage, are the ones with the smallest life time, even if left on the shelves (depend on the storage condition). Just for comparison, the price you mentioned is average. Today, you can get 500 electrolytic capacitors kit for 25 dollars, canadian, at Abra-electronics, from their web site. Sure, it is a little bit more expensive if you want a little bit more of quality (certified low ESR), 460 for 30$. Even more if you stand for a well known manufacturer. Just for comparison though, since prices are volatile. (The delivery cost may increase significantly the total cost.) |
