Can you explain the key differences between 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit microcontrollers?

The difference between 8-bit, 16 bit and 32-bit microcontrollers lies in the width of the data bus. So an 8-bit controller handles data in 8-bit wide chunks, a 16-bit controller in 16-bit chunks etc.
