Email sent to Prof after registering?

After upgrading to student edition and filling in the prof email box, is an email sent to him? What is in it? Are they sent regularly?

I was up late working on an assignment and registered here to make some progress on an assignment. I missed the class this morning but I heard from a classmate that the prof went on about getting some email at 3:00 AM! Thats about a little after I registered.

So is it a coincidence? What have I done!?!

I'm pretty sure filling in that box for your instructor's email is optional. I say this because I remember leaving it blank and I'm now a free student user.

Not sure what they send your instructor, but I'm curious.

Yes maybe optional, but I didnt know that and I couldnt have been thinking streight. It could be a coincidence though, but its had me kinda worried.
