Is there a way to step down 220v AC down to 110v AC without using a step-down transformer? I'm looking at a small electronic way to step down 220v AC for some sound systems I bought from Japan. I'm in Singapore where the mains voltage is 220v AC 50Hz. |

What is your objection to a 220 to 110 volt stepdown transformer? It's about the most fool proof system you can get, is not particularly expensive and also gives you ground isolation which may or may not be significant for safety in your system. I've used it a few times and as far as I'm concerned is the way to go. |
