Summary

Using a simple diode pump driven from a pulsed voltage source to generate a supply rail above an existing positive rail.

Description

Using a simple diode pump driven from a pulsed voltage source to generate a supply rail above an existing positive rail.

For example, to generate a low power bias supply above an existing rail.

Using schottky diodes will reduce the diode drops.

Note that the pulse source can have any DC offset: it is decoupled by C1. It is the swing of the pulsein signal that determines the output voltage.

The existing supply must be well decoupled to filter out the switching noise introduced through D1.

The simulation shows how the circuit behaves for different CLK1 duty cycles.
