Summary

Classic Howland Current Source

Description

Classical Howland Bi-Directional Current Source/Sink. Uses one op amp to sink or source current proportional to difference in voltage presented to Vin+ and Vin-..

Simulatable. Play with it. The R4-R6 node does the same thing, but opposite polarity. Note you can vary Rstray and nothing happens, except OA1 forces Vdrive to whatever it takes to force the specified current through AM1.

Put a capacitor in series with AM1 and you have an integrator.
