24W Power-Amplifier Circuit Using TDA7279 Stereo IC
24-Watt RMS power-amplifier circuit using the TDA7279 stereo 15V + 15W @ 8-ohm IC made by ST Microelectronics. Design based on application-diagram for single-polarity power-supply in datasheet. Volume control added. Usual stereo configuration changed to parallel operation by connecting the inputs together and sending both + and - outputs to one 8-ohm speaker. [Do not change to bridged mode.] With +12V supply at 2A max., output can reach 24V RMS. Limit the input voltage level to < 250 mV. This is a general-purpose audio amplifier circuit. Maximum possible gain Vo/Vi = 31. Frequency range depends on preamp (not shown). Will accept any signal < 250 mV p-p. Power-supply not shown. A regulated wall-wart is allowed. Example: Triad WSU120-2000-R. DigiKey # 364-1285-ND. $15.48 each. All parts are available online at DigiKey. https://www.digikey.com . And though simulator verified, treat the circuit as experimental. Breadboard test before final soldering. And house in a grounded metal enclosure. Can be used as a stand-alone monoblock or with a preamp that includes tone-controls (not shown).
