RO Distorto-Fuzz II with 5-Band EQ and Treble Boost
Richter Original "Distorto-Fuzz II" with 5-band EQ, treble boost, and 2-voice fuzz. Controls Include: Input Level, Gain, Fuzz 1 enable switch, Fuzz 1 symmetry switches, Fuzz 1 Depth, Bass, Low-Mid, Mid, High-Mid, Treble, Treble-Boost, Fuzz 2 enable switch, Fuzz 2 symmetry switches, Fuzz 2 Depth, and Volume. IC1 chosen to ensure clean operation of Input and Tone stages at all control settings. IC2 chosen to provide tube-like distortion when overdriven. Frequency Range 30 Hz to 9 kHz with all but Tone controls at 50%, no fuzz, or 16 Hz to 20 kHz with all but Tone controls at 100%, no fuzz, or 16 Hz to 40 kHz with all controls at 100%, with or without fuzz. [Fuzz has no effect on frequency, except for symmetry switches setting harmonic content of either fuzz voice.] Suitable for 6/7/8-string guitar or 4/5/6-string bass. Fuzz 1 voice is from feedback diode array using standard silicon diodes. Fuzz 2 voice is from shunt-type array using Schottky diodes. Maximum Gain = +37 dBV @ 160 Hz with all but Tone controls at 50%, or +57 dBV with all controls at 100%. [Fuzz with both arrays on drops gain by only 1 dBV.] Power-supply not shown. Requires regulated dual-polarity DC supply providing +-9VDC or +-12VDC or +-15VDC at >= 50 mA of current. And though simulator verified, treat the circuit as experimental. Thoroughly breadboard test before committing to a soldered build. House project in a grounded metal enclosure to prevent EMF interference.
