Description

Richter Original "Extreme MultiFuzz" for electric guitar, using discrete NPN transistors. Controls Include: Drive, Fuzz 1 Level, Intensity, Fuzz 2 enable switch, Bass, Mid, Treble, Stack-Sum, Trim, Fuzz 3 enable switch, Distort, Center, and Volume. Q1 circuit is based on the Rangemaster treble booster. Q2 & Q3 circuit based on Dallas/Arbiter Fuzz Face, providing Fuzz 1, which is followed by a shunt-diode array providing Fuzz 2 using standard silicon diodes, followed next by a 3-band Fender-style tone-stack. Q4 & Q5 circuit based on Sam Ash's Fuzz Box involving a shunt-diode array using Schottky diodes providing Fuzz 3. Q6 is based on the first stage of the EHX Big Muff Pi with input pot labeled Distort, while the Q7 circuit is based on the last stage of that pedal, but where a Framus-style mid control is between the two, serving as the Center control. Frequency Range 60 Hz to 30 kHz with all controls at 50%, or 30 Hz to 30 kHz with all but the Center control at 100%. Suitable for 6-string electric guitar. [Not recommended for 7/8-string guitar or bass-guitars.] Maximum Gain = +34.4 dBV @ 1 kHz with all controls at 50%, or +80 dBV with all but the Center control at 100%. This puts the circuit in the extreme high-gain category. Can be for stomp-box or rackmount projects. The battery can be replaced by a regulated single-polarity DC supply providing +9VDC @ >= 40 mA of current. And though simulator verified, treat the circuit as experimental. Thoroughly breadboard test before committing to a soldered build. House in a grounded metal enclosure.
