Modified Moritz Klein Compressor Circuit for Guitar
Based on a compressor design by Moritz Klein as posted on YouTube. This is a highly modified version. Controls Include: Attack, Release, Threshold, and Ratio. Experimental circuitry. Thoroughly breadboard test before committing to a soldered build. Diode part-numbers not originally specified. For less voltage drop across the diodes, replace with 1N7001s or use Schottky diodes (e.g., 1N5819G). ICs were chosen to ensure clean operation of the circuit at all control settings. Frequency Range 36 Hz to 3.3 kHz with all controls at 50%. Maximum Gain = +26 dBV @ 400 Hz with all controls at 50%. Other effects on the frequency response and overall gain using different control settings must be determined experimentally. Untested design. Proceed at own risk. Power-supply not shown. Requires a regulated dual-polarity DC supply providing +-9VDC or +-12VDC or +-15 VDC @ >= 60 mA of currrent. Video explaining original circuit can be found on YouTube @ Moritz Klein. Look for "Compressor" on Klein's YouTube channel.
