Overdrive Circuit with 2-Band Tone-Control and Treble Boost
Overdrive circuit for guitar with 2-way active tone, center-frequency control, and treble boost. Controls Include: Drive, Gain, Treble Boost, Bass, Center, Treble, and Volume. Frequency Range: 50 Hz to 25 kHz with all controls at 50%. Suitable for 6/7-string electric guitar. Example gains per frequency with all controls at 50% are; +9.6 dBV @ 100 Hz, +33.6 dBV @ 1.6 kHz, +17.3 dBV @ 10 kHz. Maximum possible gain is >= +66 dBV with all controls at 100%. IC chosen to ensure clean operation of the circuit at all control settings. If op-amp distortion is desired, keep IC1 as is and substitute one of the following for IC2. JFET distortion, TL082CP. MOSFET distortion, OPA2156IDR. Tube-like BJT distortion, NJM5532M. Power-supply not shown. Requires a regulated dual-polarity DC supply providing +-9VDC or +-12VDC or +-15VDC at >= 40 mA of current. And though simulator verified, treat the circuit as experimental. Breadboard test before committing to a soldered build. House in a grounded metal enclosure.
