45W Guitar-Amp with 3-Band Tone and Extra Gain
45-watt RMS solid-state guitar amplifier with 3-band active tone, adjustable High and Low shelving, two gain pots, and mute function. Controls Include: Low Shelf, High Shelf, Tone Level, Bass, Mid, Treble, Drive, Driver Gain, Output Gain, Volume, and Mute switch. No fuzz, distortion, or other effects. The op-amps were chosen to ensure clean operation at all control settings, though the power-amp IC (IC3) can be overdriven. Frequency Range 40 Hz to 6.3 kHz with all controls at 50%, or 12 Hz to 25 kHz with all but shelving controls at 100%, where shelving controls remain at 50%. Suitable for 6/7-string guitar or 4-string bass with controls <= 50%, also 8-string guitar or 5/6-string bass with controls set > 50%. Maximum Gain = +38.7 dBV @ 400 Hz with all controls at 50%, or +80 dBV @ 630 Hz with all but shelving controls at 100%. 45-watts RMS is sufficient for live performances in small to medium sized venues. Guitar sound other than tone-shaping must come from external gear; i.e., pedals, processor, etc. Power-supplies not shown. Two DC supplies are required; one regulated +-15VDC @ >= 40 mA for op-amps, and one unregulated +-24 VDC @ 2 A for the power-amp IC. And though simulator verified, treat the circuit as experimental. Breadboard test before committing to a soldered build. Example Speaker: Eminence "Patriot Cannabis Rex" Guitar Speaker, 12", 8-ohm, 50W. Hemp cone, made in the USA, classic American tone; clean, with smooth lows and well-defined highs. Parts Express # 290-824. $119.99 https://www.parts-express.com
