Description

Richter Original real-tube fuzzy booster circuit for electric guitar. Controls Include: Gain, Drive-Tone, Drive, Fuzz, Tube-Tone, and Volume. Input and Driver stages use low-noise op-amps chosen to ensure clean op-amp operation at all control settings. The tube section uses two low-wattage pentodes to get fuzz and distortion. The first tube, Q1, can be overdriven by the Driver Stage (OA2), then Q1 can overdrive Q2, depending on the setting of the Fuzz control. Frequency Range for the op-amp section is 36 Hz to 20 kHz with all controls at 50%. Suitable for 6/7/8-string guitar or 4/5/6-string bass. Maximum Gain = +19.5 dBV @ 400 Hz with all controls at 50%, or +30.5 dBV @ 630 Hz with Gain and Drive at 100% but all other controls at 50%. Power-supply not shown. Requires a regulated single-polarity DC supply providing +12VDC @ >= 60 mA for op-amp and tube supply voltages, plus 6.3 VAC @ 175 mA each (350 mA total) for the tube's heaters. And while the op-amp section is simulator verified, treat the entire circuit as experimental. Breadboard test before committing to a soldered build. Put the tubes on pads, to mitigate vibrational noise. And house the project in a grounded metal enclosure.
