Summary

High-gain guitar preamp with 3-band Fender-style tone-stack.

Description

High-gain guitar preamp with 3-band Fender-style tone-stack. Qualifies as an overdrive circuit. Controls Include: Input Attenuation enable switch (Attenuate or Direct), Attenuation control, Drive control, Bass, Mid, Treble, Stack-Sum, Gain, and Volume. No fuzz. Should not be overdriven by extreme input signals. The circuit's frequency range is from 25 Hz to 12 kHz with all controls at 50%. Suitable for 6/7/8-string guitar or 4/5/6-string bass. Maximum gain with all controls at 50% is +27 dBV @ 1 kHz, or nearly twice that with all controls at 100%. The circuit is intended for stomp-box projects. But the battery can be replaced by a regulated single-polarity DC supply providing +9VDC or +12VDC or +15VDC at >= 20 mA of current. [Note: Higher supply voltage results in lower op-amp noise.] And though simulator verified, treat the circuit as experimental. Breadboard test it before committing to a soldered build.
