Summary

Overdrive Circuit with Shunt-Type Schottky Fuzz

Description

Overdrive circuit with selectable shunt-type Schottky-diode array for fuzz and active 3-band tone. Controls Include: Input Level, Fuzz enable switch, Fuzz symmetry switches, Fuzz Depth, Bass, Mid, Treble, Gain, and Volume. Frequency range is from ~ 12 Hz to ~ 12 kHz with all controls at 50%, but ~ 18 Hz to ~ 30 kHz with all controls at 100%. [Do not use with all controls at 100% except as worst-case scenario while breadboard testing.] Suitable for 6/7/8-string guitar or 4/5/6-string bass. Example gains per frequency with all controls at 50%: +29.6 dBV @ 40 Hz, +40.3 dBV @ 100Hz, +44 dBV @ 400 Hz, +42.4 dBV @ 1 kHz, +26.4 dBV @ 4 kHz, +2.5 dBV @ 10 kHz. Maximum gain with all controls at 100%: +74 dBV at 630 Hz. High-gain clean Overdrive with fuzz off. Power-supply not shown. Requires a regulated dual-polarity DC supply providing +-9VDC or +-12VDC or +-15VDC at >= 40 mA of current. And though simulator verified, treat the circuit as experimental. Breadboard test it before committing to a soldered build.
