Description

2-stage MOSFET fuzz circuit with 2-band tone. Uses two dual JFET-input op-amp ICs and two dual enhancement mode complementary MOSFET pairs; one P-channel one N-channel in the same package. Controls Include: Input Gain, Master Drive, Fuzz 1 Gain, Fuzz 2 Gain, Tone Drive, Tone Gain, Bass, Center, Treble, Tone Trim, Output Gain, and Volume. Fuzz is obtained by using the Input Stage to overdrive Fuzz 1 Stage which in-trun can overdrive Fuzz 2 Stage. The MOSFET pair ICs are each configured to work as inverting buffers, which arrangement is reputed to offer very tube-like fuzz. Also, the op-amps can be overdriven to add JFET distortion to the fuzz. Frequency Range at or above the -3 dBV corners is from 38 Hz to 20 kHz. Suitable for 6/7-string guitar or 4-string bass. Emphasis on mids. Maximum Gain = +20 dBV @ 630 Hz with all controls at 50%, or up to twice that will all controls at 100%. The Circuit can be used for stomp-box or rackmount projects. The battery can be replaced by a regulated single-polarity +9V DC power-supply providing >= 60 mA of current. And though simulator verified, treat the circuit as experimental. Breadboard test before committing to a soldered build. House in a grounded metal enclosure.
