Summary

High-Gain MOSFET Fuzz Circuit with 3-Band Tone

Description

"The MOSolator" fuzz circuit. High-gain MOSFET fuzz with 3-band tone. Two dual series-connected N-channel enhancement-mode MOSFET ICs are overdriven to generate tube-like fuzz. Controls Include: Input Gain, Clean Level, MOS 1 Gain, MOS 2 Gain, Fuzz Level, Sum Level, Bass, Mid, Treble, Output Gain, and Volume. Frequency Range 12 Hz to 20 kHz with all controls at 50%. Suitable for 6/7/8-string guitar or 4/5/6-string bass. Maximum Gain = +38.5 dBV @ 1 kHz with all controls at 50%, or up to twice that with all controls at 100%. [Do not use the circuit with all controls at 100% except as a brief worst-case scenario while breadboard testing.] The circuit can be used for stomp-box or rackmount projects. The battery can be replaced by a regulated single-polarity +9VDC power-supply. And though simulator verified, treat the circuit as experimental. Breadboard test before committing to a soldered build.
