Richter Original real-tube fuzzy booster, version 3. Controls Include: Gain, Driver-Tone, Drive, Diode Fuzz Enable switch, Diode Fuzz symmetry switches, Diode Fuzz Depth, Tube Fuzz, Intensity, Feedback, Tube-Tone, and Volume. The 2-stage op-amp section provides initial gain and tone with a low-noise dual op-amp IC (OA1 and OA2) chosen to ensure clean op-amp operation at any control setting. The fuzz is from a Schottky diode array and two low-wattage low-voltage pentodes (Q1 and Q2). Here, OA2 can overdrive Q1 depending on the Drive control setting and regardless of whether the Diode Fuzz is on or off, while Q1 can overdrive Q2 depending on the Tube Fuzz control's setting. The Intensity and Feedback controls also affect fuzz and overall gain. Frequency response for the op-amp section is 36 Hz to 20 kHz with all controls at 50%, or 20 Hz to 40 kHz with Gain and Volume at 100% but all other controls at 50%. Suitable for 6/7/8-string guitar or 4/5/6-string bass. Maximum Gain = +19.5 dBV @ 400 Hz with all controls at 50%, or +30.5 dBV @ 630 Hz with Gain and Volume at 100% but all other controls at 50%. Power-supply not shown. Requires a regulated single-polarity DC supply providing +12VDC @ >= 400 mA of current. And though the op-amp section was simulator verified, treat the entire circuit as experimental. Breadboard test before committing to a soldered build. Put the tubes on pads, to mitigate vibrational noise. And house project in a grounded metal enclosure to prevent EMF interferance.
