2-Voiced Diode Fuzz Circuit with 2-Band Baxandall Tone
Largely the same as Fuzz V1 but with two fuzz voices instead of one, along with the 2-band Baxandall tone section and 4 stages of gain. Controls Include: Input Gain, Bass, Center, Treble, Drive 1, Fuzz 1 enable switch, Fuzz 1 symmetry switches, Fuzz 1 Depth, Fuzz 2 enable switch, Fuzz 2 symmetry switches, Fuzz 2 Depth, Drive 2, and Volume. The fuzz voices are from (1) standard silicon diodes in a shunt-type array and (2) Schottky diodes in a feedback array. The symmetry switches set the harmonic content of the fuzz. Frequency range is from 25 Hz to 25 kHz. Suitable for 6/7/8-string guitar or 4/5/6-string bass. Maximum gain = +33 dBV @ 1 kHz with all controls at 50%, but at least twice that with all controls at 100%. Power-supply not shown. Requires a regulated dual-polarity DC supply providing +-9VDC or +-12VDC or +-15VDC at >= 40 mA of current. Note: Higher supply voltage results in lower op-amp noise. ICs chosen to ensure clean operation with Fuzz disabled. For overdriven op-amp distortion, in addition to the Fuzz, keep IC1 as-is but replace IC2 with an OPA2156IDR dual CMOS device, giving pleasing solid-state distortion, or an NJM55332M dual BJT device, for very tube-like distortion, though either will produce more noise than the OPA2134PA. And while simulator verified, treat the circuit as experimental. Breadboard test before committing to a soldered build. House in a grounded metal enclosure to prevent EMF interference.
