Summary

Clean Boost with 4-Filter Tone and 2-Voice Diode Fuzz

Description

Clean boost circuit with four tone filters and two-voice fuzz. Fuzz 1 voice is from shunt-type Schottky diodes, while Fuzz 2 voice is from feedback-type standard diodes but with extra gain. Controls Include: Input Gain, Drive 1, Fuzz 1 enable switch, Fuzz 1 symmetry switches, Fuzz 1 Depth, Bass, Mid-Bass, Midrange, Treble, Drive 2, High Trim, Fuzz 2 enable switch, Fuzz 2 symmetry switches, Fuzz 2 Depth, Fuzz 2 Gain, Output Gain, and Volume. The specified ICs were chosen to ensure extremely clean operation regardless of control settings when Fuzz 1 & 2 are disabled. Frequency Range at or above 0 dBV is from 30 Hz to 18 kHz with all controls at 50%. Suitable for 6/7/8-string guitar or 4/5/6-string bass. Example Gains per Frequency with all controls at 50% are; +28.7 @ 100 Hz, +32.9 dBV @ 400 Hz, +35 dBV @ 1 kHz, +26.2 dBV @ 4 kHz, and +11.3 dBV @ 10 kHz. Filters are high-pass (HP) with low-corners at 22 Hz (Bass), 220 Hz (Mid-Bass), 480 Hz (Midrange), and 1 kHz (Treble). The HIgh Trim control will not boost the highs but only cuts highs. Power-supply not shown. Requires a regulated dual-polarity DC supply providing +-9VDC or +-12VDC or +-15VDC at >= 80 mA of current. And though simulator verified, treat the circuit as experimental. Breadboard test before soldering.
