Summary

Guitar Preamp with Bass & Treble Boost plus 2-Voiced Fuzz

Description

Guitar preamp with active bass and treble boost, plus two soft-clipping fuzz voices; one from Schottky diodes and one from red LEDs. Controls Include: Input Level, Drive, S-Fuzz enable switch, S-Fuzz Level, Bass Intensity, Bass Fuzz, Bass Tone switch, Bass Boost, Treble Gain, Treble Boost, and Volume. Range at or above 0 dBV is from 12 Hz to > 20 kHz. Suitable for 6/7/8-string guitar or 4/5/6-string bass, with emphasis on mids and highs. Maximum gain = +34.9 dBV @ 1 kHz with all controls at 50%, or +71.3 dBV with all controls at 100%. Thus, the circuit will function as a high-gain overdrive with all controls set above 50%. Power-supply not shown. Requires a regulated dual-polarity DC supply providing +-9VDC or +-12VDC or +-15VDC at >= 60 mA of current. And while all subcircuits are based on proven designs by Craig Anderton, and the overall circuit is simulator verified, treat it as experimental in nature. Breadboard test it before committing to a soldered build. And house in a grounded metal enclosure.
