RO-Series Preamp 5: Overdrive with 2-Band Tone and Fuzz
RO-Series Preamp 5: Overdrive with 2-Band Tone and Fuzz. Controls Include: Input Level, Fuzz enable switch, Fuzz symmetry switches, Fuzz Depth, Bass, Mid Center, Treble, Tone Gain, Drive, Output Gain, Normal Volume, and Buffer Volume. Two dual op-amp ICs are used to get three gain stages for a normal output, plus a unity-gain buffer for providing a buffered output extra. Range at or above 0 dBV is from 38 Hz to 16 kHz with all controls at 50%. Suitable for 6/7/8-string guitar or 4/5/6-string bass. Maximum gain = +31 dBV (Vo/Vi = 35.5) @ 1 kHz with all controls at 50%, or +69.8 dBV (Vo/Vi = 3090) @ 2.5 kHz with all controls at 100%. This places the circuit in the high-gain overdrive category. [Do not use the circuit with all controls at 100% except briefly as a worst-case test during breadboarding.] Power-supply not shown. Requires a regulated dual-polarity DC supply providing +-9VDC or +-12VDC or +-15VDC at >= 50 mA of current. And while simulator verified, treat the circuit as experimental. Thoroughly breadboard test it before committing to a soldered build. House in a grounded metal enclosure.
