8-Band Active EQ for Electric Guitar
8-band active equalizer for 6-string electric guitar. Controls Include: Drive, passband gains X1 to X8, passband levels L1 to L8, and Volume. Circuit uses high-fidelity FET-input op-amps, for very low noise and no distortion, for the cleanest possible operation. Frequency range above 0 dBV is from 50 Hz to 5 kHz, with emphasis on the mids. Designed for the 6-string electric-guitar in standard tuning. Not suitable for 7/8-string guitar or bass-guitar. Maximum gain = +15 dBV @ 1 kHz with all controls at 50%, or +34.6 dBV @ 1 khz with Drive and Volume at 100%, but all other controls at 50%, or +48 dBV @ 400 Hz and +46 dBV @ 1 kHz with all but the X controls at 100%. The X controls shift slightly the center frequencies in their passbands but do not affect gain. Power-supply not shown. Requires a regulated dual-polarity supply providing +-9VDC or +-12VDC or +-15VDC at >= 50 mA of current. While circuit was verified by simulation, treat it as experimental. Breadboard test before committing to a soldered build.
