Summary

4-Voiced Transistor Fuzz Circuit for Guitar

Description

4-voiced transistor fuzz circuit with 3-band tone control, for bass or guitar. The fuzz voices come from different type of transistors; Fuzz 1 from standard silicon, Fuzz 2 from germanium, Fuzz 3 from JFETs, and Fuzz 4 from MOSFETS. Controls Include: Gain, Drive, Fuzz enable switches (four, separate; one per voice), Fuzz symmetry switches (two per transistor array, with 2 settings each; for setting harmonic content of fuzz), Fuzz Depth, High Cut, Bass, Mid, Treble, and Volume. Range above 0 dBV is from 16 Hz to > 20 kHz. Suitable for 6/7/8-string guitar or 4/5/6-string bass, with emphasis on mids above 100 Hz and highs below 10 kHz. Maximum gain = +33 dBV @ 630 Hz with all controls at 50%, or +63.7 dBV @ 1 kHz with all controls at 100%. Circuit can be used for stomp-box or rack-mount projects. Power-supply not shown. Requires a regulated dual-polarity DC supply providing +-9VDC or +-12VDC or +-15VDC at >= 20 mA of current. While simulator verified, treat the circuit as experimental. Breadboard test before committing to a soldered build. And house completed project in a grounded metal enclosure.
