When the K value is .1, .5, or 1 the output voltage was 12 volts. The voltage wasn't a straight line due to sag which would drive down the circuit. If the voltage divider was placed in the building you wouldn't want a non linear behavior because it would be hard to see the correlation between the circuit and how the building is operating, so if there was a problem in the building which happened to revolve around the circuit finding the solution would be a bit harder for a non linear behavior.
