Summary

6-Voiced Feedback-Diode Fuzz with 2-Band Tone

Description

6-voiced feedback-diode fuzz circuit with 2-band James-style tone-controls and 4 stage of gain. Controls Include: Drive, Gain 1, Gain 2, Fuzz Enable switch, 6 Fuzz on/off switches, 12 Fuzz symmetry switches, Fuzz Depth, Intensity, Bass, Center, Treble, and Volume. With Fuzz disabled, the circuit performs as a booster with 2-band tone. With Fuzz enabled, fuzz voices are from six separately-selectable diode-arrays in the feedback-loop of the third gain-stage. At least one array must be ON for a fuzz effect to be active. Fuzz voices are from the following diode types, in order (from 1 to 6) of least to greatest voltage-drops; germanium, Schottky, two standard silicon, and two LED. Also, each array has two symmetry switches, which set the harmonic content of the fuzz from that array. The circuit's frequency range between low and high -3 dBV corners is from 53 Hz to 15 kHz with all controls at 50%, but which extends in botth directions with all controls > 50%. Suitable for 6-string electric guitar (not recommended for 7/8-string guitar or for bass-guitars). Maximum gain = +23 dBV @ 400 Hz with all controls at 50%, or twice that with all controls at 100%. Power-supply not shown. Requires a regulated dual-polarity DC supply providing +-9VDC or +-12VDC or +-15VDC at >= 40 mA of current. And while simulator verified, treat the circuit as experimental. Breadboard test before committing to a soldered build.
