Summary

Soft-Clipping Schottky Fuzz Circuit with 3-Band Tone.

Description

Soft-clipping Schottky diode fuzz circuit with 3-band Fender-style tone-stack. Controls Include: Input Gain, Direct Drive, Fuzz Enable switch, Fuzz symmetry switches (two, with 2 positions each), Fuzz Gain, Tone Gain, Tone Drive, Bass, Mid, Treble, Stack Sum, Output Gain, and Volume. Range above 0 dBV is from 25 Hz to 2.5 kHz. Suitable for 6-string electric guitar in standard tuning. [Not recommended for 7/8-string guitar or bass-guitar.] The low 0 dBV reference is at 20 Hz, and the low -3 dBV reference is at 18 Hz, while the high 0 dBV reference is at 3 kHz, and the high -3 dBV reference is at 3.3 kHz. Maximum gain = +32 dBV from 80 Hz to 160 Hz with all controls at 50%, or +69 dBV @ 100 Hz with all but the Tone controls at 100%, and with bandwidth from 10 Hz to 16 kHz. Power-supply not shown. Requires a dual-polarity regulated supply providing one of the following; +-9VDC or +-12VDC or +-15VDC at >= 20 mA of current. Circuit is recommended for rack-mount application. Circuit will accept signals from any active/passive 6-string guitar, an effect, effects line, guitar preamp, or guitar processor at peak-to-peak levels up to +-1V of the chosen supply-rail voltages. Though verified, treat the circuit as experimental. Breadboard test before committing to a soldered build. And house completed project in a grounded metal enclosure.
