Highly Modified Boss OD-1 Overdrive Circuit.
Highly modified Boss OD-1 Overdrive circuit, with Fender-style 3-band tone-stack, and other tone-shaping features. Controls Include: Input Gain, Fuzz enable switch, Fuzz Symmetry Switches (SSW), Low Limit, Bass, Mid, Treble, Bass Boost, and Output Gain. Suitable for stomp-box or rack-mount applications. Battery can be replaced by a regulated single-polarity +9V DC power-supply providing >= 20 mA of current. Though verified, the circuit should be considered experimental. Breadboard test before committing to a soldered build. With Fuzz disabled, circuit will function as an overdrive but with more gain than the original pedal. Also, extra op-amp distortion is obtained if Gain controls are turned sufficiently clockwise. Maximum gain = +33.6 dBV from 1 to 2.5 kHz with all controls at 50%, or +44 dBV with both Gain controls at 100% but all other controls at 50%. Range: 20 Hz to > 20 kHz. Thus, the circuit is suitable for 6/7/8-string guitar or 4/5/6-string bass, in standard tuning, with emphasis on mids and highs. Modifications: addition of tone-stack, addition of Low Limit and Bass Boost controls, use of Schottky diodes instead of standard silicon diodes and altered diode array, plus changes to some component values to optimize response and increasing gain.
