Summary

5-Band Tone Circuit for Guittar with 2-Voiced Fuzz

Description

5-band tone-control circuit for guitar with 2-voiced diode fuzz. Features selectable soft-clip fuzz from Schottky diodes and selectable hard-clip fuzz from standard silicon diodes. Controls include: Drive, Fuzz 1 enable switch, Fuzz 1 symmetry switches (two, with 2 settings each), Fuzz 2 enable switch, Fuzz 2 symmetry switches (two, with 2 settings each), Fuzz 2 Depth, Sub-Bass, Bass, Low Mid, High Mid, Treble, and Volume. Suitable for stomp-box or rack-mount applications. Power-supply not shown. Requires a regulated dual-polarity DC supply providing one of the following: +-9VDC, +-12VDC, or +-15VDC. Count 3 mA minimum current per op-amp. Maximum total circuit gain of 10 with all controls <= 50%. Maximum total circuit gain of 100 with all controls at 100% (not recommended). Example gains per frequency with all controls at 50%, and using a 1V 1kHz input signal, are; 0dBV @ 15Hz, +12dBV @ 40Hz, +16dBV @ 63Hz, +17dBV @ 80Hz, +18dBV @ 100Hz, +19dBV @ 160Hz, +20dBV from 250Hz to 630Hz, +19dBV @ 1kHz, +15dBV @ 2.5kHz, +7dBV @ 6.3kHz, 0dBV @ 10kHz, and -12dBV @ 20kHz. Though verified, the circuit should be viewed as experimental. Breadboard test before committing to soldered build. House completed project in a grounded metal enclosure.
