Selectable 4-Voiced Fuzz Circuit for 6-String Electric Guitar
Selectable 4-voiced diode-fuzz circuit for 6-string electric guitar. The four fuzz voices are from four types of diodes; germanium, Schottky, standard silicon, and LEDs. The germaniums and LEDs are in soft-clip arrays, and the Schottky and standard diodes are in hard-clip arrays. There are two stages, each with one soft-clip and one hard-clip diode array, with a modified Fender-style tone-stack between the stages. Controls Include: Input Gain, Fuzz 1 enable switch, Fuzz 1 symmetry switches, Fuzz 2 enable switch, Fuzz 2 symmetry switches, Fuzz 2 Depth, Drive 1, High Trim, Low Trim, Bass, Mid, Treble, Drive 2, Output Gain, Fuzz 3 enable switch, Fuzz 3 symmetry switches, Fuzz 4 enable switch, Fuzz 4 symmetry switches, Fuzz 4 Depth, and Volume. Range above 0 dBV is from 25 Hz to 6.3 kHz, with emphasis on the lows and mids below 2.5 kHz. Maximum gain = +30.2 dBV (Vo/Vi = 32.4) @ 100 Hz with all controls at 50%, or +53.8 dBV (Vo/Vi = 489.8) @ 160 Hz with the Gain, Drive, and Volume controls at 100% but all other controls at 50%. With fuzz disabled, circuit will perform as an overdrive suitable for 6-string guitar in standard tuning, but with highs falling rapidly above 2.5 kHz. The low -3 dB reference is 19 Hz. The high -3 dB reference is 8.4 kHz.
