RLC DIODE CIRCUIT

I tried to run a transient sim on this simple RL diode circuit fed by a 100KHz sin generator: http://imgur.com/o8vtW "Error building transient solver non finite value" message is issued. an the analysis didn't start.

Could you make your circuit public so that we can have a look at how it behaves (or rather doesn't!)?

:)

@piero,

I don't know if I've got the same diode, V1 and simulation parametersas you but this seems to run OK:

If you open it and press F5 it will run a transient sim.

Maybe you entered a wrong value. For example when I entered ,5 for a cap instead of .5 I get this error. That is, I entered a comma instead of a period.

Thanks, the problem was not that you mentioned... You changed diode params. Applying the diode parameteres you entered the sim runs but the results seems not to be right. Even with this setup this circuit should exhibit a chaotic behavior, but I didn' get this from the plots.

Tried to run with 4.2V amplitude of V1 (insted of 1V). The sim runs but the result is not chaotic as should be...

My original circuit RL_DIODE_PB is now public for trials.

The poor inductor is going to see an open-circuit as the diode switches off, so it's going to try to reach for infinite volts, limited only by the breakdown voltage of the diode. Circuitlab doesnt model avalanche breakdown IIRC, so you're going to get infinite voltage perhaps.

In the real world the diode is going to avalanche at 150 volts or so and clip the voltage peak.

In my DWS sims, with V1 amplitude of 1V, the diode voltage doesn't exceed -40V and the behavior is chaotic. The diode model I used (Spice) doesn't take into account any breakdown in this case, and I get chaotic behavior: https://picasaweb.google.com/118285010585894969594/DWS_TESTS?authkey=Gv1sRgCLKTq8-FtMm53AE#5734717787629968466

Hy!

I have the same problem with my circuit, could you help me?
